No app to download
Scan the door. The app opens.
Your guest arrives at Suite 612. They point their camera at the small QR on the door. In two seconds, your branded app opens — with the room already loaded. No App Store, no sign-up, no "add to home screen."
Apple built this exact flow
An App Clip is Apple's way of letting a user run part of an app without installing anything. It loads in under a second, is capped at 10 MB, and can be invoked from a QR, an NFC tap, a Messages link, or a Siri suggestion.
The Advanced App Clip Experience ties a specific URL to a specific clip, with a rich "card" shown before launch — your hotel's logo, name, and the invoking text ("Welcome to [Hotel] — Suite 612").
Hotels are almost textbook use cases for this and yet — incredibly — we can't find a single competitor that actually uses it.
What your guest experiences
- They point their phone camera at the QR sticker on their door.
- iOS shows a card: your logo, your hotel name, "Welcome to Suite 612."
- They tap "Open." Two seconds later the app is up, already pre-loaded with their room.
- They browse services, message the front desk, or install the full app if they want to keep it.
Zero typing. Zero sign-up. Zero "create a password" page.
Why no one else does this
Most guest-experience vendors started as web apps before the App Clip API existed (2020). Migrating a PWA to a native App Clip is work nobody wanted to do. So the market standard is still "scan the QR → open Safari → load a PWA → accept cookies." We started after App Clip existed, so we built for it from day one.
What about Android?
Apple guests are roughly 70% of the luxury and boutique hotel market globally and closer to 85% in SE Asia. For launch we focus on iOS. A future "Instant App" equivalent on Android is possible but is a different engineering project.
FAQ
- Does the guest lose progress if they don't install the full app?
- No. The App Clip stores your pending orders and request history for the length of the stay. When they check out, the clip is auto-removed by iOS.
- What happens if they want the full app?
- There's a one-tap "Get the full app" button in the clip. It opens the App Store and installs your hotel's branded full app, which gets more features (notifications, longer history).
- Do we need to do anything to make the QR work?
- We ship the QR stickers with the app. You stick them on the doors. That's it.
